description du format des données ( 1999-2007)

The format of our reformatted files is as follows:

The drops are concatenated. Each drop is coded as follows:

Line 1:
	Ship Code Character*2
	Voyage Number Character*3
	Drop number integer (i3)
	space 1x
	year,month,day i4,2i2
	time (GMT) character*5
lat (deg,min,dir)	character*5 NOTE: NOT decimal degrees...
long (deg,min,dir	character*6 NOTE: NOT decimal degrees...
	number of temperatures
		in drop i4
whether or not it hit bottom (HB if hit, blank if not...)
				2x,a2
the recorder type (RCT$ - from WMO table 4770)
				2x,'RCT$',1x,a5
the probe type and equation(PEQ$ from WMO table 1770)
				2x,'PEQ$',1x,a5
the profile type (TEMP, PSAL, or COND)
				a4
the data type (i.e., BA, XB, CT, TE, etc.)
				1x,a2

Line 2++:
temperatures 10x,20f3.1 (until all temperatures listed)

NOTE: The first temperature value is at 0.0 metres. This is an extrapolated value
from 4m because the XBT takes (on average) 3.6m to begin true temperature records.
This surface data is therefore discarded.

Ship Code = SR indicates the Swan Reefer

This drop is read as: Swan Reefer, cruise 05s, drop 1 taken on 31 January 1999
at 0232 hours GMT. Position 6.45S, 105.10E and there are 192 temperature values
in the drop. This probe hit the bottom (HB) just below 392m and the data
was taken with the Sippican MK9 recorder using a Sippican Deep Blue probe
to which the new depth equation has been applied. The data is temperature and the
data came from a full resolution XBT, not a Bathy message.

The temperatures are taken at 2 metre intervals, starting at 0.0 metres.
Temperature is recorded in three characters to a tenth of a degree.
Salinity and conductivity are recorded in four characters to a hundredth
of a degree.

ONLY "good" data is recorded in this file, i.e., any data judged bad has
been eliminated. This means that if the probe hit the bottom, the depth of the
bottom was just below the last data value recorded (i.e., data after the probe
lands is considered "bad"). If this "bad" data is required, or you require
access to the quality codes associated with the data, you will need to use
the Meds-ASCII format. Contact the person who provided this example for
more information...
