The format of our reformatted files is as follows:

The drops are concatenated. Each drop is coded as follows:

Line 1:
	Ship Code Character*2
	Voyage Number Character*3
	Drop number integer (i3)
	year,month,day 3i2
	time (GMT) character*5
	lat (deg,min,dir)	character*5
	long (deg,min,dir	character*6
	number of temperatures
		in drop i4
depth interval 7x,a2 (2m for these files
IF SPECIFIED - 5 m if not specified)
quality control codes	10i3 (see the CSIRO cookbook)

Line 2:
probe type 1x,a4	(for drops after 1990 only)
	temperatures 5x,20f3.1

Subsequent lines:
temperatures 10x,20f3.1 (until all temperatures listed)
(use this for line 2 of
						 pre 1990 files also)

NOTE: The first temperature value is at 0.0 metres.

Ship Code = IN indicates the Iron Newcastle
		    IP indicates the Iron Pacific
		    AP indicates the Australian Progress

starting at 0.0 metres. The quality control flags 1 and 6 were given to this
drop (these are explained in the CSIRO Cookbook for Quality Control of Expendable
