Data files and formats

This page provides information on data assimilation run input/output files and formats.

 

Input files

Data assimilation run requires model and observation input files.

  • Model files are:
    • unstructured ASCII (native S2C) or NetCDF T-UGOm 2D solution files for tidal elevation (and velocities optionnally)
    • mesh file (neighbour format)
  • Observation files are:
    • tidal constants and error bars (native OBS format), where amplitude and errors are provided in metres and phase lags in degrees.

 

Output files

A complete data assimilation run produces several solution and diagnostics files.

  • for each constituent WAVE processed:
    • covariances: WAVE.cov.prior.lgd, WAVE.cov.post.lgd, WAVE.cov.repr.dat
    • dispersion spatiale: WAVE.dist2prior.*.dat, WAVE.dist2mean.*.dat, WAVE.dist2analysis.12.dat
    • observations: WAVE.assimilated_obs.obs, WAVE.misfit.dat
    • analyse: WAVE.EnOI.nc (*), WAVE.innov.prior.lgd, WAVE.innov.post.lgd
  • for each data assimilation run:
    • obsCovMatrix.nc, modelCovMatrix.nc, fullMatrix.nc,  EigenValues.dat

 

(*)Note: Individual solution and diagnostics files can be written in an ASCII format:

  • elevations: W.prior.ele.s2c, W.ele.inc.*.s2c, W.ele.*.s2c
  • currents: W.prior.uv.v2c, W.uv.inc.*.v2c, W.uv.*.v2c
  • ensemble statistics: W.EnMean.ele.s2c, W.EnVar.ele.s2r, W.EnMean.uv.v2c, W.EnVar.uv.v2r
