Preliminary step

Go to local refinement exercise:

cd ~/monday/Tonkin/meshing-upgrade

Then edit tonkin.startup:

kate tonkin.startup&

 

Full refinement

Launch mesh refinement command:

~/softs/tools/bin/mesh-refine -m tonkin.nei

Look at results from xscan:

$GENESIS/bin/xscan -s ../tonkin.startup

Go to "Element edition" menu... and let's dance

 

Local refinement

This exercise failed on Monday as gridone.grd file was corrupted (checks and warnings will be added to stop execution in such cases) and attempt to use  gebco_08.grd failed as it is too large (computer RAM limited to 4Mo, 6Mo are needed with this dataset, again checks and warnings will be added to stop execution in such cases).

However there is a work-around... (Tuesday fix):

gridone has been restored, so it works now with this dataset. If you want to use gebco_08.grd, load it from xscan with the a limitation to the visible frame (button to activate on loading dialog box), then save the limited area dataset and use it to run mesh-upgrade.

Launch mesh refinement command:

~/softs/tools/bin/mesh-upgrade -m tonkin.nei -p upgrade.plg -c default.crt

refined-reshaped.nei contains the new mesh. Look at results from xscan:

$GENESIS/bin/xscan -s ../tonkin.startup

Go to "Element edition" menu... and let's dance
