8. Eddies observed by the glider
By looking the altimetric maps only: 1 anticyclonic eddy (12S-155E) around July, 26 and August, 2 (days 570-590; km 400-600)
1 cyclonic eddy (9S-157E) around October, 4-11 (days 640-650; km 1980- 2130)
9. repetitive sections
a) section 1: south of the Louisades; part1: km 560-900.gif ; km 1050-1400.gif
Two TS profiles are characteristics of part1: km 560-735.gif km 785-900.gif
TS profiles.gif
During part1, an anticyclone is present that induces a stong westward flow
b) section 2: To the Solomon Island; part1: km 1750-1890.gif ; km 2000-2170.gif
Two TS profiles are characteristics of part2: km 2000-2067.gif ; km 2100-2170.gif
TS profiles.gif
In fact, this section has been observed tree times. at the first time (part1), a cyclonic eddy is present. the second and third times provide similar information with two specific TS profiles, depending how far the glider is from the coast.
