Solomon Sea Oceanography Meeting
Portland, February 14 2018
During OSM2018
Meeting Goals:
A meeting was organized during the Ocean Sciences Meeting 2018 in Portland.
The objectives were to make an update on the progress made since the Solomon Sea Workshop in Toulouse, May 2017
Several short presentations have been made and can be found here:
- Introduction, objectives and expected outcomes, S. Cravatte and J. Sprintall.
- Moored Observations of Transport in the Solomon Sea, by M. Alberty et al.
- Update on the mooring/PIES measurements at the southern entrance, by W. Anutaliya et al.
- Gliders Observations, by W. Kessler et al.
- Deep Pacific Circulation: new insights on pathways through the Solomon Sea, by C. Germineaud et al.
- Internal tides in the Solomon Sea, by M. Tchilibou et al.
- Trace metal fluxes from the Solomon Sea, by S. Michael et al.
Outcome: It was decided to submit an abstract for Oceanobs19 on the Solomon Sea, for a White Paper on how to move forward with a Solomon Sea LLWBC (or Western Pacific) monitoring scheme for Ocean Observations 1.
In the cover letter, we will say that we wish interactions with the NPOCE and ITF folks.
