The TIM research topics are based on three questions on Trace elements and isotopes (TEIs) in the ocean:

• What are the sources of TEIs to the ocean: quantitatively (fluxes) and qualitatively (where, in what phases, through what processes)?
• How are these TEIs transported by the oceanic circulation?
• What are the dissolved/particle interaction processes within the water column controlling their cycling (in relation to biological, chemical and physical processes) and sinks?

We use isotopic tracers. Radiogenic ones (Nd) informing about spatial origins and dissolved-particulate (D-P) exchanges. Radioactive ones (Ra, Ac) informing about sediment sources and ocean circulation. Stable ones (Fe), informing about the Fe cycle, sources and D/P processes.
