Air-sea coupling is studied in the ECOLA group, both in terms of coupling methodologies (using coupled models : the OASIS coupler for ROMS and WRF models and NEMO and ALADIN-Climate models) and analysis of coupling mechanisms. Studies sites concern sites where air-sea coupling is particularly strong :
- The Southwest Pacific region, which is one of the few tropical cyclogenesis region of the world,
- Upwelling regions (e.g. the Nha Trang upwelling off Vietnam)
- The Northwestern Mediterranean, one of the few dense water formation area in the world
- A regional ocean-atmosphere coupled model of the Peru upwelling system
- Plateforme couplée ROMS_AGRIF/OASIS3-MCT/WRF
