Research activities in the Gulf of Guinea
Contact: Y. du Penhoat, R. Almar (LEGOS/IRD)
Our team's research activities in the Gulf of Guinea are relatively recent and concern mainly nearshore and estuaries dynamics. We collaborate with several partners from different African countries (eg. Benin, Ghana, Cameroun, Senegal). In 2014, our projects address the following thematic:
- nearshore dynamics; beaches' response to atmospheric events at different time scales (seasonal, interannual, extreme events)
- tides in the Cameroon estuary
Our team is also involved into the management and teaching for the 'Master 2 d’Océanographie Physique et Applications (M2OPA)' of the 'Chaire Internationale de Physique Mathématiques Applications (CIPMA, chaire UNESCO)' of the Abomey-Calavi University in Cotonou (Benin).
