ECOLA: Echanges Côte-Large

Team leader : Nadia Ayoub

Substitute: Marine Herrmann

The ECOLA team brings together researchers and engineers interested in regional, coastal and nearshore dynamics, as well as tides. Its activities are focused on 5 themes:

1/ coastal and regional circulation processes and their impact on biogeochemistry,

2/ wave-related processes at different scales and nearshore dynamics

3/ the continent-ocean continuum

4/ tides (modelling and physical processes)

5/ ensemble methods for data assimilation in the regional/coastal ocean

The team also maintains expertise activities: tidal atlases, surges modelling, coastal altimetry, assimilation and ensemble modelling, SURVOSTRAL programme in the Antarctic.

The modelling of small-scale coastal circulation from regional scales to nearshore  is a "flagship" activity of the team, based on the development or exploitation of several numerical codes.
