Titre : Use of terrestrial LIDAR for the monitoring of coastal processes
Abstract : Terrestrial LiDAR scanners allow the detection of a surface at great spatial and temporal resolution. Primarily used for mapping studies, its range of application has been broadened and for example, it is now used for the monitoring of coastal processes. Indeed, when placed close to the shoreline, it can measure the evolution of wave shape while it is propagating onshore. Individual wave properties (height, celerity, geometry...) can then be extracted and studied as a function of the cross-shore position. Therefore, this instrument provides the opportunity to further study wave transformation and provides an ideal tool to investigate the individualisation of the wave properties in the surf-zone.
